Redefining Surgical Training with BDI Hernia Program at IRCAD

I am pleased to share the successful completion of the specialized “BDI Sales Training – Hernia Surgery Course” conducted at IRCAD India from April 7 to 10, 2026. This four-day program was thoughtfully designed to reflect the evolving landscape of surgical training.

The primary objective was to go beyond knowledge dissemination and create a meaningful integration between medical science and sales expertise. The program commenced with a comprehensive overview and essential operating room (OR) protocols. In collaboration with esteemed experts such as Dr. C.B. Nisty and Dr. Mrigendra Singh, participants gained detailed insights into hernia anatomy, various mesh options, and advanced fixation techniques.

A key highlight of the course was the hands-on animal lab session, where participants practiced mesh deployment on validated models. This was complemented by live case observations, providing exposure to advanced procedures including OVHR, LVHR, and robotic hernia repair.

In addition to technical training, emphasis was placed on soft skill development and team-based case presentations, enabling participants to better understand and align with clinical requirements. The program concluded with a gala dinner and certification ceremony, fostering both professional growth and stronger collaborations.
