Shivpuri Makes History with First Robotic Surgery by Dr. Mahak Bhandari
A proud and historic milestone has been achieved in Shivpuri as robotic surgery was successfully performed for the first time at Shrimant Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Medical College and Hospital. The event establishes a major milestone which will enhance surgical training and medical technology development throughout Madhya Pradesh.
A surgical team led by Advanced Robotic Surgeon Dr. Mahak Bhandari executed the first CME workshop which focused on Robotic Hernia and Gallbladder Stone operations. The team performed three advanced robotic operations which included 1 Robotic Gallbladder Surgery (Robotic Cholecystectomy) and 2 Robotic Hernia Repairs (Robotic TAPP) operations. The surgical team streamed their operations from the operating room to the lecture hall which allowed more than 350 medical students and faculty members to observe actual robotic surgical methods during their real-time presentation.
The surgical team used a domestic robotic system which SS Innovations created through the work of Dr. Sudhir Srivastava. This development demonstrates how India has progressed in creating sophisticated medical systems while achieving independence in healthcare technology development.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia attended the event as he watched the real-time robotic operation that took place in the surgical room. He expressed his admiration for the technology which he viewed as a major accomplishment that benefits the entire state.
The event received organization support from Sri Aurobindo University and Shivpuri medical college. Experts predicted that these technological improvements will enable better surgical treatment for patients living in isolated areas while they will help advance medical education in India.
