Young HSICON 2026 Inspiring the Next Generation of Surgeons
Participating in the 4th bi-annual national conference, Young HSICON 2026, held on March 28-29, 2026, at the JW Marriott, Chandigarh, was an exceptionally enriching and inspiring experience. This prestigious gathering brought together over 400 surgeons from across the country, including more than 100 distinguished national experts, fostering a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment.
As a laparoscopic and robotic surgeon, I experienced a remarkable confluence of academic rigor and hands-on learning. From live laparoscopic and robotic hernia surgeries to interactive sessions on advanced robotic platforms, master video presentations, and insightful panel discussions, each segment was meticulously curated to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and clinical practice. The session on “Soft Skills for a Surgeon” was particularly impactful, reinforcing the idea that true surgical excellence extends beyond technical proficiency to encompass effective communication, empathy, and strong leadership.
I was also privileged to share my experiences with fellow young surgeons, where I spoke about the evolving role of robotic hernia surgery and the growing significance of indigenous surgical innovations. Engaging in discussions aligned with the “Make in India” initiative was especially inspiring, as it represents a progressive step toward making advanced surgical care more accessible, affordable, and sustainable.
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Anupam Goel, the conference distinguished itself not only through its academic depth but also through its forward-looking vision.
What left the most lasting impression was the participants’ curiosity, eagerness to learn, and openness to embracing emerging technologies. This experience was not only intellectually rewarding but also reaffirmed my conviction that platforms like Young HSICON play a pivotal role in shaping the future of surgery, where continuous learning and clinical practice evolve in seamless synergy.
