Dr. Mahak Bhandari Drives Innovation at OSSICON 2026

From February 25 to 28, 2026, OSSICON 2026 was held at The Forum, Club O7 in Ahmedabad. With the theme “Transforming Care: From Evidence to Excellence in Obesity Management,” the conference emerged as India’s largest and most influential platform in the field of bariatric and metabolic surgery. It brought together leading surgeons, researchers, and global experts to exchange knowledge on cutting-edge topics such as robotic surgery, patient selection, GLP-1 therapies, revision procedures, and long-term outcomes.

One of the key highlights of the event was the session delivered by Dr. Mahak Bhandari, a consultant laparoscopic, bariatric, and robotic surgeon at Mohak Bariatrics and Robotics, Indore. On February 27, he spoke in Hall-B during the session “MASTERING THE ART OF PRACTICE OF BARIATRIC SURGERY.” His lecture, titled “Transitioning from lap to robotic platforms – overcoming the learning curve, and managing ergonomics to manage early career burnout,” was highly engaging and insightful, especially for young surgeons.

Dr. Mahak Bhandari, who holds a PhD in tele-robotic surgery and OAGB comparison, is an active member of Obesity Surgery Society of India and International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders. His talk emphasized not only technical advancements but also the importance of ergonomics and mental well-being in preventing burnout during the early stages of a surgical career.

OSSICON 2026 successfully integrated innovation, evidence-based practices, and clinical expertise. Contributions from emerging leaders like Dr. Mahak Bhandari highlight India’s readiness to lead the next phase of robotic and metabolic surgery on a global scale.
